Bharat Utsav’ commences in Dubai, showcasing Indian culture & commemorating Independence Day

A three-day event celebrating Indian art and heritage, ‘Bharat Utsav’, commenced in Dubai. The festival, which commemorates India’s Independence Day on August 15th, aims to display the country’s diverse cultural richness.

The opening day of the festival featured artwork representing all 27 Indian states, each adorned with unique motifs. This offered a glimpse of India’s creativity and variety. The festival also featured classical Indian music performances, cultural exhibitions, and instrumental music and dances from across India.

Kartikeya Sharma, Member of the Rajya Sabha, attended the event and said, “The Bharat Utsav aims to connect our diverse traditions and the expatriate community in the UAE.” Chirag Kumar Paswan, Member of Parliament, shared this view, emphasizing the festival’s role in promoting cross-cultural exchanges.
The festival gained an extra layer of importance with the endorsement of the Consulate General of India, solidifying its position as a cultural beacon. In attendance on the occasion the event’s chief coordinators, Vikas Bhargava, Chairman of GBF Middle East Chandrashekhar Bhatia; Deva Solanki and Ira Bhargava.

‘Bharat Utsav’ is a tribute to the energetic Indian community abroad. The festival’s main goal is to highlight the charm of Indian culture and provide a platform for different artistic expressions. From classical Indian music performances to cultural exhibitions, the event offers a mix of experiences for attendees.

The inaugural ‘Bharat Utsav’ pays tribute to the thriving Indian community in the UAE and showcases hidden talents across various artistic disciplines. This event not only celebrates India’s cultural heritage but also demonstrates how artistic expressions can unite people across borders.
With an impressive figure of 3.554 million Indians currently contributing to its workforce, the United Arab Emirates stands proudly as the leading employer of Indian expatriates.
